MYRA TREE FALL
A stream called Myra Tree,
no one knows why,
flows out of this spectacular
canyon on Oxbow Reservoir.
I love to paint it in all seasons
and at all times of day.
This version received a
BLUE RIBBON at the Wallowa
Valley Festival of Art,
Joseph, OR, 2014.
Framed 25"X 18" SOLD

LA GRANDE HILLS
I was trying for clean and simple and something worked because
it achieved BEST of SHOW in the Crossroads Regional this past September,
2014,judged by Barbara Noonan from Seattle. SOLD

UNFOCUSED
I painted this from an out-of-focus
photo of a gap in the foliage
in our backyard. The subject didn't
matter here because I wanted
to capture the colors and sparkling
light. For that I chose an abstract
approach. Framed 21" X!7".

WEISER RIVER FALL
I painted this scene in spring colors a couple of years
ago and it sold immediately. Framed 19.5" X 15.5"

VIRTUE FLAT
This painting was ideal for working in a limited
 palette. Framed 11.5" X 20.5"

KEATING FALL
I found the very pale silvery colors of grass and the deeper greys and blues of clouds and mountains to be striking and it worked with a limited pallette

LITTLE EAGLE MEADOWS III
This was a redo of a painting that had already sold. I wanted
a painting with the edginess of an unusual composition
to submit for the ArtsEast Biennial in La Grande.
Framed 13" X 19"

POWDER RIVER COLOR I
This one is a favorite of mine and was selected for the ArtsEast Biennial in La Grande, 2014.I love fall on the Powder. Framed 17" X 26"
POWDER RIVER COLOR II
This painting was given an  HONORABLE MENTION
by a Boise judge at the Crossroads Regional,
Spring 2014. It is a case of less being more
which is what I hope most to achieve.
Framed 14.5" X 20"

BELOW THE DAM
The photo for this painting was taken not too far below Hell's
Canyon Dam. Not a usual composition but
I loved the way the afternoon sun outlined the cragginess
of the side canyon. One of my favorite paintings.
Framed 23" X 32"

HELL'S CANYON BEAR II
Framed
We saw this bear on a river trip below
Hell's Canyon Dam. I was able to get several
good shots from a jiggling boat. I don't paint animals
very often and when I do it is every bit as much about
the landscape as the animal. Framed

SNAKE RIVER HILLS
Sun and shadow on our surrounding
hills and distant mountains continually catch my eye.

FIRST LIGHT
This was painted for Variations in Sevens at Crossroads,
Baker City, OR, May 2014
This is favorite view of mine looks  SE past the highest
hill in the Sag to High Point in Idaho just to the left.

VIEW FROM BLACK POINT II
Variations in Sevens show at Crossroads, Baker City, OR,
May 2014.For this version I went simpler and blockier as a way to
express the height and blocky size of Hell's Canyon
VIEW FROM BLACK POINT I
For the Variations in Sevens show at Crossroads,
Baker City, OR, May 2014
This was my first try at the stunning size and blockiness
of Hell's Canyon. It shows more variation and texture than
my second version

POWDER RIVER CROSSING I
for Variations in Sevens at Crossroads,
Baker City, OR, May 2014
I loved the colors but had a hard time with the composition.
I found it too static.

POWDER RIVER CROSSING II, for Variations in Sevens show,
 Crossroads, Baker City, May 2014.
I wanted to try a different composition that played up the
repeating pyramid shapes in the background.
More reds and oranges are in the painting than my photo file shows.
