WEISER RIVER SUMMER

We see this spot on our way to and from Boise.
It is a subject I mean to do a few more times at different times of the year. I've done fall but not photographed it yet. 16" x 18"  SOLD

We had a spell of fabulous clouds last summer and I discovered what fun it could be to paint them. The first two are Keating Valley, the third, Pine Valley at sunset.

 CLOUDPLAY 17" x 25"  SOLD

CLOUDS OVER KEATING VALLEY
The blues in the painting are more subtle. 13" x 25"  SOLD
SUNSET ON FISH LAKE ROAD
I was attracted by the sunlight shooting beneath the clouds and spotlighting the hill
15" x 24" SOLD
SUMMIT CREEK DRAINAGE

I wanted to capture the flat light of a grey day
in fall and let the interest be in the foliage colors.
I so often paint with strong light and shadows
that I enjoyed changing it up. 11" x 16"  SOLD

PINE TOWN INTERSECTION
Lowering sunlight brought out strong colors in this subject.
There are strong shapes as well but the colors made it come to life for me. 9" x 15"   SOLD
SPUR ROAD ON THE WEST WALL
The West Wall  is a gentle ridge that encircles the west side of our valley. Since it is right behind our house it is a beautiful place to hike and walk dogs.
The challenge in this painting was the strong morning light coming toward the viewer.12" x 24"   SOLD
ROLLING HILLS SUNSET
I was drawn to the simple and repeating shapes, and the limited palette. I find it a restful painting.
14" x 19"
EARTH SEQUENCES II
This is a second version of this scene. Then it the reference photo was chosen to be interpreted by a group of Halfway artists. That show will be in May 2014 at Crossroads, Baker City. I love the receding shapes of mountains and it was fun to work in a more neutral palette.  The referrence photo is by Phil Wreden  13" x 19" SOLD
WINTER WILLOWS
The distant mountains are in Idaho across the Snake River. The willows are colorful against an otherwise neutral landscape.  12" x 24"  SOLD

ATKINSON"S BARN/ RICHLAND
I was attracted to this scene as much as anything by the late evening light and shadows on the fields and mountains. 10" x 18" SOLD
HARVEST MOON SUNRISE
Daybreak tuns the field up behind to shades of copper, especially late in the year. A full moon was setting when I took the photo although it's a little faint reproduced here. 12" x 24" SOLD

A set of three paintings all inspired by the oceans of wild lupine blooming in the meadows at the base of Cornucopia Peak. The fragrance was wonderful and it was a great hike to the summit.

                                                       LOW END OF THE VALLEY
I've painted this scene in different formats several times and each time it felt new.
It must universal appeal because they all went to new homes. 12" x 24" SOLD

ROADSIDE STREAM
I stopped to get this photo for this
painting on a trip to Bend.

TRAILS
This spring scene shows
the immensity of the hills
that flank the Snake River
which is just beyond
the farthest green slope.
There are animal trails
everywhere, forming
interesting patterns
and textures on the
landscape. SOLD

THE FIELD ABOVE OUR PLACE
This is at the upper end of Pine Valley and we see this view just out our windows.

It is a constant joy. The peak is  Cornucopia Mountain
